Since it opened in 1999, hundreds of dogs have passed through the kennels doors and have gone on to wonderful new homes and families. On this page you will see some of those lucky dogs in their forever homes, and hear how they've settled in and how they've enriched their new families' lives.

So pleased to hear Misty has settled in well. Look forward to pics!
Hi Ena,
Just wanted to say how Misty (was Millie) is getting on great with us. She is the most affectionate lovable dog we have ever known.
She is off the lead on her walks and always comes back. We take her to the beach everyday and goes running most mornings with me.
We had a couple of problems with her wandering off at the beginning but she never went far but now she stays in and around the garden and always comes back when we whistle.
Misty is very happy and so are we with her!
I will try and get some photos to you soon.
Thanks so much for letting us have Misty!

Do they look happy or what. Thanks to Liz & Dave for giving them such a good home.
Great news these two lovely dogs found a brilliant new home today and they are staying together. A really nice retired couple phoned about them this morning took them for a walk then of course just wanted to take them home. Home visit was done then the dogs had a trip to the vets for a health check started their vaccinations and were mirco chipped, Now they are safely ensconced in their new home and are happy as Larry.

Hi Ena,
We just thought we would drop you an email to let you know how Tess is getting on.
She is fantastic, full of energy! She is a typical lab, very greedy so you can't leave anything on the work tops because she will jump up and steal it before you can even blink.
We don't think she had seen much of the world so we are trying to take her to as many different places as possible so she gets used to lots of different sights and sounds. She is really coming out of her shell now. She was a bit timid with other dogs at first but likes nothing better than running about with other dogs she meets out on her walks now.
Although she was gorgeous when we got her she is looking even more fabulous now - her coat is lovely and shiny. Everyone that meets her thinks she is still a puppy. I've not worked out how to attach a photo yet I'm afraid.
I hope you are well, we will definitely keep in touch.
Thanks again for everything.
Katie, Margaret and Tess xx

This is amazing, you know how I like to keep in touch with our former residents. Well, silly me misplaced wee Molly's number. Imagine my surprise when I came across this blog and there she was with her brother & sister and awwwwe. I e-mailed Lorraine and suffice to say this is the outcome. I'm sooooo pleased she is doing so well. Molly is the wee pup in the picture who grows into this beautiful Springer. Thanks Lorraine for the pics, they are lovely.
Hi Ena
I just got your email, what a lovely surprise, amazing that you found my blog, about all our 3 lovely rescue dogs. Yes that is wee Molly on the blog, she is big now, and towers above wee Chloe and is absolutely the apple of our eye, and knows just how to wrap us both around her little finger, with her cute and still puppy like ways, one look of those big brown eyes and Rene almost gives her anything she wants, well almost, she has to know when no means no, ofcourse. She has fitted in so well into our family and even Gio ( the big lad) lets her away with a lot too, sometimes she just lies on top of him and he doesn't move, and she always gets his chewy when he drops it! Chloe has loved her from the start, and was like a second Mum to her, the three of them couldn't be lovelier, they are all such different characters, Gio pretends to be laid back & macho, Chloe has a one track mind, food, food & more food, & Molly is play play, play, and cuddles and more play. I will try and send these photos just now of Molly 7 her brother & sister, hope that they get though ok.
Thanks so much for thinking of us & especially our darling Molly, she is still a pup to us! I still look at you site all the time and as you can see have your link on my blog, as I always believe if someone is looking for a dog, they should consider a lovely rescue dog first, and you do such great work there Ena, I hope they will come to you at Second Chance.
I hope that you are all keeping well, please keep in touch and we'll keep letting people know about the wonderful work you continue to do for all those great dogs out there, looking for their forever home, we certainly have never looked back with our 3 beautiful girls and boy and would always adopt again! We'd always have a Springer in our lives, just watching them brings joy to our hearts!
Lots of Love
Lorraine, Rene & the three amigos
Gio, Chloe & wee Molly xxx

Henry >> |
Posted: 1st July 2008
Hi Ena
Henry is now well settled in. It feels like he has always been here. He was neutered last week and is recovering fine from his operation.
He was a bit unsure when he first arrived and it took him 3 days before he ventured upstairs. He now considers the whole house his domain. He has got on absolutely fine with our cat, Misha, right from the start. He has also met his new extended family and they all love him. We are going for walks three or four times a day and he loves it. I have attached some pictures for you of Henry with Sarah and with my mother and the cat.
He has adopted my daughter, Sarah as his primary carer and sleeps in her bedroom. He has also been for his first grooming session and was a great hit with our grooming lady and also at the vet when he went there.
We are off to the US on the 26th of this month. Henry was booked into some local kennels, but a friend of ours (who has previously owned rough collies) asked if she could look after him for us. We figured that she was a better option so he will be in a proper home for the two weeks while we are away, and will get his regular walks etc.
Hope you are keeping well.
All the best
David, Marlene and Sarah Baird - and Henry, of course!

Mac >> |
Posted: 27th June 2008
This is Mac ( used to be Boss)on a camping trip with his mum / dad and wee brother. Aren't they handsome and what a view.
Hi Ena, here is a photo we took on our camping trip, it was taken on a walk up to the queens view point in Aberfoyle. The dogs had a great time running through the trees, Mac loves jumping through long grass. We've still not managed to get a proper photo of the 4 of us sitting with the dogs- they keep moving, it took about 10 atempts to get the photo of the 2 of them on the bench! We will try and pop in sometime and show you some of the other photos and video clips we have. Everything is still going really well, we've had quite a few friends and family visit so they can meet him- he's been really good. We had such a good time camping that we are going again to another site next week!
The 2 dogs are in the garden at the moment playing with a bit of a plant they've broken off, they've got an end each playing tuggy around the garden! It's really funny all the games they seem to have invented to play with each other.
We've had Mac out with the parrot a few time too, he's quite good but it'll be a while until we fully trust either of them- the parrot can be a bit of a trouble maker and tries to go right over to Mac to tease him! We've also caught the parrot throwing food out of his cage to Mac!
I'm thinking about taking Mac to a training class, he's getting quite good at basic obedience but I just want to make sure Mac has the chance to socialise with lots of other dogs at his age. Also, as I was really busy when we first got him I thought it might be a chance for him to bond more with me- he's great with everyone but he is a bit of a Daddy's boy just now. Are there any classes you would recomend in the Dunfermline area?
Also wanted to ask do Rotties have webbed toes? Mac does, we noticed the other week, perhaps it's from another breed in him, I know we were never sure with what else he was crossed with. We've had him in water but he's not tried swimming yet!
Thanks again

Tiffin >> |
Posted: 27th June 2008
Awwwwwwwwwwwwww Look at Tiffin now !
Hi Auntie Ena,
Mummy's typing this as I dictate through eyebrow twitches, grunts and paw lifts. (Me and daddy's developed a special dog language so we can talk to each other)
Just wanted to tell you how happy I am in the big smoke (Glasgow!) and having such an amazing time.
I LOVE going to work with mummy and as I'm always very well behaved we go to the park every afternoon for a big run around.
She say's I'm such a friendly wee fellow and it takes her so much longer to get from A to B cos I say hello to EVERYONE!
I have friends in the park too who I meet every night - there's Daisy the Border Terrier puppy and Mickey the 3 legged dog and Snowy the Bichon Frise and Kia the Shih Tszu.
I love my new house though the bed's slightly too big for me to jump up onto at night. I have to really psyche myself up but I always manage in the end cos I just have to be close to mummy and daddy when they're sleeping though I do snore v.v.v. loudly and I take up most of the bed but they love me so much they let me have as much space as I want (spoiled rotten!)
Everyone says I'm looking really great. I've put on weight and my coats looking really lovely. Mummy always makes sure my wrinkles are clean and a dry shampoo/bath when I need it - I HATE having a bath! I'm confident now that I'm used to my routine and happy to show my big personality! Mummy's also bought me lots of lovely things x2 as I have everything at home and in the office too! Daddy would have a fit if he knew how much is spent on me!!
Moving to our new office end of next week. The windows are HUGE! and I'm so excited cos I've been over a few times to visit and I have a great time running up and down watching everyone as they go past! the people I'm watching stop and look at me too because I'm so cute, though they all think I'm a pug. Everyone I speak to say awweee look at that pug! I don't mind pugs but I think I'm much more handsome than a pug!
Since moving here I've been to the beach - Troon's my favourite as there's an ice cream van at one end so I get a wee treat when I've finished walking. People laughed at me the last time cos the ice-cream stuck to those big petted lips of mine and it looked like I had white lipstick on! I'm still scared of the sea - too much water (like a big bath) but I'm being brave and stepping in puddles now!
I have an obsession for laptops at the moment, daddy was playing me movie clips of Griffons on YouTube on Saturday and I sat up on the sofa and watched them with him still not figured out how the Griffons got in the computer.
Anyway time to go to the park.
Thanks again ever so much to you and the girls for looking after me in the kennels it was much appreciated and I've made mummy and daddy such happy parents
xx
