Since it opened in 1999, hundreds of dogs have passed through the kennels doors and have gone on to wonderful new homes and families. On this page you will see some of those lucky dogs in their forever homes, and hear how they've settled in and how they've enriched their new families' lives.

Well mine is quite a sad story ( but has a happy ending ) my " mum " died and there was no one to care for me as I wasn't a stray I was brought here. Well I never reached the web site and have found a lovely home !! This is me going away to my new home, my mum is so nice and delighted to be adopting me. and my uncle Brian is lovely too,he has two Golden Retriever girls who will be my cousins. Lots of love Kizzy xx

4th July : Just a wee update from Kizzy's Mum:

Dear all at Second Chance Kennels, I can't thank you enough for looking after Kizzy and for matching us up. She is truly a delightful little dog and does seem to be settling in fine. It will take a bit of time before she trusts me to be out of her sight and gets used to the car but that will come. She has now discovered that food is good - was clearly hungry around lunch-time; so gave her chicken and rice (part of Missy's staple diet when she was ill) and that vanished in no time at all! She thoroughly enjoyed her walk along the front at Monifieth this morning and was great with all the dogs we met. Absolutely fine with harness and extending lead - didn't pull me off my feet! Absolutely loves the garden and goes up and down the hill sniffing everywhere. Wish I knew what her previous home life was but guess only friends and neighbours of her previous "mum" would know that. Little Kizzy is doing fine and I will keep updating you. At the moment she's curled up at my feet and I know she'll move the minute that I do.

Many thanks to you all. Lesley R.

Auntie Ena

I have been with my new Mum and Dad for nearly 24 hours now. I’m being a good boy (they call me an ‘angel’) and love playing with my big brother, Bailey (the Lhasa). I cried a wee bit at night but then I settled down when they let me sleep in the bedroom, I’ve never been on my own as you know…. (great result, I’ll remember that trick for the future!).

I will keep in touch with lots of pictures like the ones of me in the garden (below) J Apparently, I am going to a place called the ‘doggie groomer’ in a few weeks when I am bigger… I can’t wait!

Love Coco xxx

This me with my lovely mum and dad, and I have another Second Chance boy Fergus the Dalmation as my cousin and wee Bella, my auntie Karen is Fergus's mum xx

For anyone who has been following our Nanook's story !!

Nanook has had five homes in her young life, and there was only one who had commitment for her, but sadly their circumstances changed which was really sad. The rest only kept her at the most 2 weeks !!!

Well she is being fostered by Harry & Avril Greig.
Harry runs KingdomK9 Dog behavioural classes. This is some pictures and a video of her with some of the kennels dogs and Harry's own dogs. She has only been with Harry since the 16th of June, lives in the house with his family and his dogs.
They are working so well with her and she is enjoying life with them. Hope everyone enjoys her latest photo's and video I think they are just lovely, thanks Harry x

If anyone has a dog who needs help Harry is your man !! Kingdomk9 01592 770524.

Hi Ena and Frank.. As you can see Fraser is as happy as ever and enjoying life in Leven.. It breaks my heart to see from your website how some selfish people can give up so easily when they are thinking of rehoming a dog... 1 day ..!!! Come on .. !! These poor dogs have been through so much already.. It takes time and a Lot of patience. Thank goodness Second Chance is there for them... Hope to see you all soon.. Love from Eileen Bob and Fraser.xxx

While up at Balmullo we nipped up to Stuart & Debbie's, to visit wee Sparky who has just joined the Smith clan. Rocky the tan / white Lurcher is also from Second Chance and Joey is an SSPCA boy. What a wonderful home they all have, no danger of Sparky coming back unless for a visit xx.

Ps: Ena says I must really feel at home as I looked at the camera instead of trying to avoid it.x
