Since it opened in 1999, hundreds of dogs have passed through the kennels doors and have gone on to wonderful new homes and families. On this page you will see some of those lucky dogs in their forever homes, and hear how they've settled in and how they've enriched their new families' lives.

This is Lucy who never reached the web site, as she had someone waiting to give her a home, but her family would love to see her on the gallery none the less! She is a wee cream & white girl only about five months old.

Stella was with us here at the kennels for a while before her "mum" came along to offer a forever home, but it was worth the wait! Here's what her Mum says:

Stella has settled in really well, she loves walks / the beach /and swimming in the sea. She is a very loving wee dog who enjoys meeting people, the only thing is she does not like other dogs very much. Stella always gets into my bed at night for a cuddle I cannot imagine life without her.

Bertie (was Tyson) >>
Posted: 14th August 2005

Dear Ena; I just thought that I would drop you a quick note to let you know how 'Bertie' is getting on in his new home with his new pals.

Well, he's come on so very well. Both he and Trip are best of friends and 'Ellie' (our friend's dog) has also taken to him well.

We decided to re-name him 'Bertie' - even the vet thought that 'Tyson' wasn't quite right for such a loveable Labrador and already he is answering to his name.

Please find attached some pictures of 'Bertie' and his pals.

Thank you very much for thinking of us when he came to Second Chance - he's fitted in so well and has really taken to Lesley. He's also an expert gardener - he's particularly good at potato picking!!

We have changed Freya's name to "Brae" as we thought it would be for the best, seeing as our neighbours' dog is also called Freya.

... and here are the photos we promised to send...

Lots of Love Heather, Kiki, Nutmeg (the cat) and of course Brae. XX

Cody (aka Louie), one of the 4 wee waifs >>
Posted: 4th August 2005

Cody was one of the 4 wee pups handed in a few weeks ago. Here is a message from his new Mum:

Cody is doing really well. When My husband got back last sat after getting over the shock of the puppy being there and thinking he was lovely, wasnt sure that he liked the name Cody so we changed his name to Louie. Louie is great at welcoming everybody he uses his whole body and tail. He is sleeping a bit better at night from about 12ish to 6.30am. Gradually getting introduced to the cats. I've attached some photos we took earlier in the week. Thanks for all your help Hope his three sisters are fine. With best wishes Anne.

On the 2nd Jan this year there was a wee eight week old Lurcher puppy tied to a tree at the kennels. It had been snowing and there he was sitting shivering in the cold with his wee bag of toys. He was on the web site and a lovely couple came and gave him a fantastic home. Well Charlie is now nine months old and a real stunner I have to tell you! He came back to see us last Friday, for a visit and saw me, they all spent a lot of time with me and then came back on Sunday. I could hardly believe it when I saw them again, so we all spent some more time playing off lead in the sandpit, I was showing off and snapping at Charlie, so we all went for a walk and my mum & dad said I was perfect out on the walk and that I was just showing off in front of people. So yes you've guessed it I am now in my lovely new home and Janet (my new mum) has sent photo's of me playing in the garden with Charlie.

AT LAST I HAVE FOUND MY DREAM HOME, AND IT HAS CERTAINLY BEEN WORTH WAITING FOR.

Thanks for all your good wishes lots of Love Jet xxx.

P.S. My mum has sent some more pics of me and my brother in. She says they're still absolutely crazy about me (well, who wouldn't be!!)

Well this is me grown into my ears! I've settled into my new home and have been getting on great! I have a big garden to play in and sometimes I dig holes. I go to the beach lots and I can swim, I've even been camping for my holidays. My favorite thing in world is sticks - I sometimes take them home as presents. Everybody in my family (and in my street) loves me.

Archie >>
Posted: 30th July 2005

This wee lad was taken to vets to be put to sleep, but luckily he found his way here instead! We got this message from his new "Dad":

Hi Ena, just a couple of lines to let you know that "Archie" has settled in very well and you'd think that he'd lived here for the last ten years. I've had him with some of my clients and all of them find him very friendly. He gets on very well with children and other dogs and has never made a mess in the house.

Posted: 28th July 2005

This is me wee Bobby (I'm the white one) and my big brother Ralph. Ena says it doesn't look like I have settled in, (only been here since Saturday) and she will come and get me as I look sooooooooooooo unhappy. What do you think?!

P.S. Another photo has arrived, and it's obvious that Bobby and Ralph can't stand the sight of each other! And his mum also tells us he snores veeeeeeeeery loudly!

P.P.S. More photos have been added below, just to show how unhappy Bobby is with his new family (as if!)
