Since it opened in 1999, hundreds of dogs have passed through the kennels doors and have gone on to wonderful new homes and families. On this page you will see some of those lucky dogs in their forever homes, and hear how they've settled in and how they've enriched their new families' lives.

I've gone to stay with a lovely family and I also have a lovely big "sis" called Mindy (she was also a rescue dog a few years ago).

This is a pic of me with them all, don't we look so happy!

Misty here! I was a scared wee thing when I was in the kennels, I stuck to the girls here (and Frank!) like glue. Well, a lovely couple came to visit me and said they would dearly love to give me a home (they already had a ten year old border collie girl), but they didn't want to rush things.

My new mum (this is her in the photo with me) came to visit me me for six days, I am really good with her now and as you can see like my cuddles.

This young man on the left was Storm when he was here, what a great time he is having!

Hi All

This is a picture of me on my holidays last week at Pitmeden Forest in Perth from left to right:

Me (Sabe) the hadsome one, Faith (my little sister and bestest friend), Kai (he and I are having a bit of a power struggle at the moment), Buzz (he is my second bestest friend) and Ace he is 12 and a half, I hope I look and walk as good as he does when I get to his age.

We had a great time on holiday and took our new caravan and as predicted by my mum we all got up on the bed, it was very cosy.

Lots of walks every day in the lovely sunshine (for a change), Kai was doing the agility training break and dad says it will be me and Faith next year, I cant wait. I can do the tunnel just now but dad says I need to let my bones develop before I do the jumps so I am only allowed to watch at the moment - boring!!!!!

As you can see I am still growing and still as daft, I chewed one of mums shoes but dad says it was her fault for leaving it where I can get it, I agree.

I am going away for the last time this weekend in the caravan to a place called Easington and I am really looking forward to it, if mum gets a nice picture she will send it to you

Have to go now Faith has got the ball - but not for long

Love to all

Gyp (was Chase) >>
Posted: 23rd September 2007

Hi Ena,

Thought I'd just send a wee email since I've not been in touch for a little while.

We were away for a holiday at Aberfeldy in July, Gyp too of course!

The weather was great so we were out walking up 'The Birks', Gyp was racing ahead, he almost pulled me up some of the slopes! The garden that surrounded the log cabin was huge and he had a great time playing cricket with the kids most evenings. The owners of the cabin have a border collie girl called Jill and Gyp and her seemed to hit it off.

I've attached a couple of holiday photos.

I love the Bark in the Park photo gallery, I'm so sorry we missed it.

Hope you are all doing well at Second Chance.

Diane & Gyp

This is Meg with her mum & dad, she is such a lucky wee girl. When she was only about twelve weeks old (about seven years ago) she was tied to the kennels gate with her wee blanket and toys beside her. Now she lives the life of Riley with a family who adore her.

Millie >>
Posted: 23rd September 2007

Now this is what we call commitment well done to Jane and Millie, who was a difficult wee girl. Thank goodness she went to Jane.

Hi Ena,
thought I'd update you about Millie... after I emailed you saying I wanted to re-home her, I had big second thoughts (I am very fond of her and she does have many star qualities!) I decided it really wasn't fair to pass her on again - I think she was just being adolescent so I decided I would work much harder with her to see if we could really make something of it. We've both come through with flying colours, I'm pleased to say, and she's really turning into a lovely steady dog. I now have a very strong bond with her and I've learned a lot about how to relate to stroppy bitches!

Both Millie and Jazz come to work with me; recently we've been working on a big environmental arts site in the forest and it's done wonders for Millie's attitude towards strangers, especially men. They are the 'site girls' and people stop work to throw sticks for them!

Anyhow, just thought you'd like to know she's still with me, and very much appreciated.

best wishes,
Jane

This is wee Megan the Lab puppy with two of her new family, who are all lovely and absolutely adore her. She has certainly landed on all four paws!

Hi Ena, I have attached a couple of photos taken of Megan with Sarah & Andrew. She had a great time over the weekend when we were all able to be with her in the garden & she is exploring behind every bush! Sarah counting the days till she can take her out for a walk - the harness has already been bought!
