Since it opened in 1999, hundreds of dogs have passed through the kennels doors and have gone on to wonderful new homes and families. On this page you will see some of those lucky dogs in their forever homes, and hear how they've settled in and how they've enriched their new families' lives.

Dear All,

We wanted to let you know how Luna is doing. She has settled in wonderfully. The children adore her and she is my absolute baby!

She has made good friends with Solo the cat and they play tig in the garden. She watched the cats using the catflap so she decided that she would use it too! She goes bombing in and out of it whenever she pleases! She also thinks that as the cats sleep on the back of the couch then so should she and is very indignant when she is moved back on to the floor while they are allowed to stay up there. Kali and Venus have accepted her as part of the family and they play well together in the garden. Kali our oldest dog has discovered a new mothering instinct which we never thought she would have and keeps a motherly eye on Luna, she even lets her chew her ears! She has given Kali a new lease of life and only gets rows off Venus when she tries to eat her food!

We went on the bus to Kirkcaldy to visit her brother Bon who lives with Sherri and she slept most of the way. She was in a basket and she loved all the sights and smells. Luna and Bon had a wonderful time together as you can see.

Eventually they wore themselves out and rested for a while.

We will definitely visit you soon so you can see for yourselves how she is doing. She is a wonderful addition to our family and we thank you so much for allowing us to adopt her.

Yours Sincerely

Louise, Jamies, Bryn and Fleur.

Hi Ena,

I'm always checking the website but I've been rather lapse at keeping in touch - sorry!

I see you've got three Border Collies in at the moment, I daren't visit in case I want to take one of them home with me! Gyp would certainly love a brother/sister but we just don't have the room.

He has come on leaps and bounds, he's such a well behaved boy and soooo sociable now, who'd have believed it.

I take him down to the beach most days and he just loves to play with any other dogs down there, some of them bounce on him and steal his toy but he's really good about it.

I've attached a recent photo, it's not very good as it was taken on my mobile.

Unfortunately he lost a tooth recently, one of the front little ones, although the tooth came out the root remained so he ended up with a day trip to the vets!! He still loves me though!!!!!

Well, I just wanted to say hi and let you know that Gyp is thriving.

All best wishes sent to the Second Chance gang, I hope you are all keeping well.

Diane & Gyp xx

This is one of Bonnie's puppies, how cute is she.

Hi Ena,

just thought I'd let you know how Mya's getting on. Her cough stopped after a couple of days and the vet said it was normal for puppys to have a cough as they're going into a new environment. We've found out she loves pigs ears and will happily chew on one for hours which saves our furniture taking a battering! She loves cuddling up to her toy doggy that we got her and she's getting more nosey about everything. We think she's going to be really easy to train as she already knows her name and to sit. She's getting on ok with our cat Max although he's still a bit unsure of her. Can't wait to get her out and socialised with other dogs as she was great with Ollie when we picked her up! Thanks for the picture of Bonnie saw her latest photos on your website she looks really happy with her new family!

Ben, Harvey & Blue >>
Posted: 1st April 2008

Hi Ena,
I have (I hope) attached some photos of 'The Boys@ - Ben, Harvey and Blue. Its hard to think it has been over 7 years since Harvey came to stay, and over 6 for Blue.

Thanks Linda it is so nice to see pictures and here how our former residents are doing.I just love when I get emails like these

Ena xx

As you can see from the photos they are all enjoying life.

Harvey has coped very well with a tough year with 2 cancer ops - one on the lump that formed round his micro-chip and one where his toe was removed. The vet says the 2 cancers are unrelated and just 'bad luck'. I've decided I won't put him through a 3rd op if it came to it. Prior to his toe op they found out he had quite a few heart problems so he now enjoys his sleep even more than before. All that said, he is very happy with his lot!

Blue keeps very well. Some problems with his stomach a couple of years ago have all been sorted simply by giving him food last thing at night so he doesn't sleep on an empty stomach. Needless to say, if Blue gets fed before bed, so do the other two!

Holly, the Westie girl that Karen Watson got a year or so ago has turned into a lovely wee dog - just a bit too keen on rolling in muck! I'll see if I can get a photo of her next time we are all out walking.

Hope everything is going well with you.

Linda

FUN DAY OUT AT THE KENNELS.

Cath from Sled Dog Welfare brought Mika who she adopted from here about a month ago back for a visit!

Boy did they all have fun, this is the dogs all playing together, the collie with the white face was not supposed to be good with other dogs, but just look at her playing they are all having a ball.
