Fingal >>
Posted: 15th June 2008

This young man's family were looking for a friend for Oscar their lovely collie / spaniel mix, they adopted from here. His mum called about a border collie we had, but the collie had been rehomed so I told her about this wee !! lad, well he was black and had a wee bit white on his chest. So Janice and her mum came to see him and that was it love at first sight. I just wonder when he will stop growing ha ha.

Ena

I thought you might like to see how 'little' Fingal is getting on. Here are a few photos.

As you can see he's growing into a fine young man. He loves everyone, man and beast. On the down side he's an ace digger ...so few flowers in my garden this year....the veg are not looking to hopeful either! Ah well, there's always next year!

We've been taking him out with the bikes, which he loves, as we can go at his pace. You can really see the hound in him as he lopes along. And he is finally getting up to full speed so Oscar now has to use his collie wiles to catch him. He finds cutting the corner ususally works...in a straight line he has no chance.

I'll keep you posted on his progress.

Thanks

Janice

Roscoe here sadly I have had to come back to the kennels as my dad is so allergic to me he is now in hospital. He tried for about six months but had to give in, my long coat is the problem.
However, I only came in yesterday and have now gone to stay with Molly another Second Chance girl, and Mindy I get on really well with them.
Roscoe xx

Ena, Roscoe is absolutely wonderful; he is a bear of a dog. His gentle playfulness is just what I need. Molly is still my grumpy little girl but now I have two shadows. Thank you for trusting me with them both. Jude

Scamp >>
Posted: 12th June 2008

Hi Ena,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. We have been very busy walking everywhere (within reason) with Scamp. She is such a gorgeous natured wee dog and follows me everywhere. She settled down great and I only had to go and see her twice on the first night. She does not make any noise at all now.
Scamp has a nice harness and pink extendable lead as well as a kong, which she absolutely loves. She will go back and forward for hours chasing and retrieving it. (especially when there is a treat inside it!)
Tigger (my ginger tom) has settled down a bit since the initial meet. She knows to keep clear of him and vice versa.
She is great in the car and loves putting her wee face to the air vent or up to the window then lies down and sleeps until we reach our destination.
Scamp will be a great companion and we are looking forward to many years ahead chasing her around the garden etc.
She has met lots of different types of dogs in our adventures to the park - the only one she had a dreadful meet with was a jack russel believe it or not.
We ventured to Cupar Gala Day on Saturday kitted out with water, dish, nibbles etc and she loved it and was very good. She barked at the ants on stilts because they were drumming and making such a din! ha ha She sorted them out.
Thank you for giving us the chance to welcome Scamp into our home.
Gail xx

Hi Ena and gang
Yogi (used to be Bryn from next door) here. Well it's a year since I
came to live with Mum, Dad and big brother Riley. To celebrate my
anniversary we went to Dornoch for a week , where I swam every day with
Riley and one time Dad even put a wet suit on and joined us in the sea
with a ball, while Mum stayed on the beach and said we were all mad but
we didn't think so. I had a great time and I am so happy here and Dad
now takes me to agility like he said he would, I think I am really good
and really enjoy it. Anyway Off for a snooze beside Riley before tea .
Say hello to everyone else in the second chance club and a big wag of
the tail for those waiting with you at the moment.

Lots of love
Yogi

Hi Ena and Frank

As promised here are some photos of me in my new house. I can't believe I am here to stay.

My big sister arrived home from her school trip on Sunday and couldn't believe her eyes. Talk about "having spots before your eyes" - well she has me! I was hiding in the garden when she got home and she came in, gave a beaming smile and said 'who's dog is it?' Mum and Dad said they didn't know. I thought 'OH, NO!!' They then told her to look at my tag. She saw our phone number and postcode and let out a yell and then gave me the most huge bear hug - it was GREAT. So, Fiona and I are now the best of pals.

So Sunday was a big day. As well as meeting Fiona I also met my new wee pal 'Rocko' and his big sister. He's a wee white Westie fluff ball baby. We had great fun playing in my garden. Gran and Papa also came across and I had my first trip in the car to Aberdour. I have my own beach on my doorstep but Mum and Dad thought a quick short car trip was a good idea. I wasn't too keen on the idea to begin with but it was fine.

Promise to keep in touch and thanks, Ena and Frank, for rescuing me from ........... I don't even want to think about it!

Lots of Love

Enca xxxx

Thanks to Sharon Brown at Scottish Rottweiler club for giving Sasha's mum our number. Sadly, Sasha's mum could no longer keep her although she has been a well loved girl. I didn't have an empty kennel but knew of a lovely couple who sadly " lost " their Second Chance big girl Bella last year and now feel ready to offer another Rottie a home. I phoned Alan and to cut a long story short they are now the proud new " parents " of Sasha. Who came to see us yesterday on her first day in her new home and she has a lovely wee deaf Jack Russell to play with and they are the best of pals already. So a happy ending all round.

This is Pippin (now Rosie )doesn't she look settled in her new home. Thanks folks she's looking great

Hi Ena and Frank

This is the second picture - forgot to add text to the first message - Can't thank you enough for letting us have our wee Rosie - we have had a fab day with her and Sam and Molly - they are all getting on great now - its like she has been here for weeks not hours.

She is a real we cutie and quite cuddly too now that she is getting a bit confident with us.

Sam and Molly seem to be enjoying her too now - she was even allowed in Sams crate with him this afternoon when it got too hot outside - they had a wee cuddle up together until Molly called time and disrupted the peace and quiet!!!!

Going to take them to the beach later when it gets a bit quieter - will send you another pic tomorrow.

Thanks again - Colin and I will need to think of a way to do a bit of fundraising for you and Frank - will get back to you.

Love Heather & Colin

PS Paul is going to do some training with us later in the week - thanks for his number.
