Teddy (was Barney) >>
Posted: 10th February 2009

Hi Ena

Thought I'd drop you a quick update and pics of Teddy, he is very much living up to his new name, he seems to spend most of his time cuddled up to one of the girls, especially at the minute as both have been unwell, so he's been cuddling into them and taking care of them for me.

He and Patch are now best of pals and have been enjoying what little snow we have had. Although, they don't like being out in it for too long as their tummies get very cold very fast.

We've also had to ensure we keep the bathroom door closed when running a bath as he has a tendency to jump in the bath and we're worried he'll get burnt. We can't wait to take him to the beach over the summer. Now I have a funny feeling he'll love the water.

We had one or two teething problems when Dave came home as Teddy became very defensive but that's all over and now Dave is both boys' play pal. He can't get in the front door at night without toys being dropped at his feet and then when he goes upstairs to do his emails etc both the boys follow him up and try hard to distract him.

Teddy has met our vet now and was well chuffed when he got a treat from him, so much so he didn't want to leave again. O course he got a clean bill of health.

He gets on really well with the older of the 2 cats, they can often be found playing together or cuddled up usually on my bed. The younger cat is slowly getting there, she will now play with him and curl up on the same bed as him, but not actually cuddle into him.

Well I better close, we're hoping to come up and visit next time the schools are on holiday.

regards

Agnes Neeson

Posted: 10th February 2009

Sue has sent us these lovely pics of Harry the Wheaten Terrier ( Was called Paddy when he first came here) Would you just look at him now, he is having such a wonderful time with Sue and her family, even got a pidgeon as his best friend hahaha.

Dear Ena

At last some new photos of Harry. We have had a lot of snow, and it has stayed with us for a whole week, with little ‘top ups’ during the week. Harry loves the snow, he also likes rabbit hunting. We also have a new adoptee – know anything about pigeon welfare ? The pigeon arrived well before Christmas and is still with us. Roosts on my bedroom window sill and flies down for food when I go out in the morning. Harry almost had pigeon for breakfast one day!!

Hope that all is well with both the hard workers at second chance and also the residents.

Best wishes,

Sue and family

Pippa >>
Posted: 10th February 2009

Hi Ena,

Thanks for the quick reply, Ive sent my favourite picture of Pippa and her Dad and when I download the dogs in the snow from my phone I'll forward them too.
Our other 'boy' is a worry....not with Pippa as they get on well....but healthwise he isnt great. Having Pippa has really brought home how old he is and the fact he is deteriorating quite quickly. He has gone completely deaf in the space of 6months and so when we walk Pippa he cant get off the lead to run as he loved. We have had him at the vets twice since Christmas, he developed a bad cough which the vet thought might be kennel cough but it turned out he'd eaten pond snails when he brought them up in the car. Nice!!!!!
He is also having back problems, another reason he cant walk as far as he did, and has lots of fatty lumps which the vet says are nothing to worry about but the last time we were there he thought they may be growing internally now and thats what causes his wheezing. He's still a happy wee man but its like seeing a member of the family suddenly get old!
Take care, we will try to pop up soon... we feel guilty we havent had her back to visit

Bev
